Trealy Farm – Photos and Details of Accommodation
Trealy Farm is a 138 acre organic mixed farm (horses, veg, cattle, sheep) on a hillside looking out towards the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons. It’s a beautiful, wild and secluded space. Organic food grown on the farm and the neighbouring farm (also organic) will be used in cooking for the workshop as far as possible.
There is some accommodation on site, which can be booked as a private (single) room or a shared room. Alternatively people can bring a camper van, a tent, (there is a charge for this) or stay offsite (local bnb or hotel). Please book accommodation and food at least one month ahead. There will be a late bookings, late payments, and cancellations will each incur a £25 admin fee.
Whether you stay on or offsite, you can pre-order meals (lunch and supper) to be prepared for you. Alternatively there is a kitchen where you can self cater (the kitchen is not large, so if a lot of people choose to do this you’ll need to plan how this works). What Trealy Farm Offers
- Exclusive use of the Pavilion Training Room – detached and private on two floors with huge glass windows, balcony, stunning views.

Arrival Time
We ask you to arrive some time after 5.30pm if you are staying over.
Public Transport
Train: The best local station is NEWPORT (South Wales). There are always taxis at Newport and it is 22 miles from the Station to the farm.
An alternative is Abergavenny Station. Be aware there are rarely taxis at Abergavenny, so you’d have to prearrange a taxi. Generally, it’s cheaper to get off at Newport then take a taxi, than to go on to Abergavenny and then taxi. You will need the Trealy Farm Directions to give to the taxi driver. Or use What3Words: host.excellent.estuaries
Bus: Monmouthshire Route 60. Get off at Red House Farm stop which is a request stop. That is the bottom of the lane to the farm. Then you have to walk (0.8 miles, half of which is flat and half of which is uphill – up a stone driveway)
Airport: Cardiff is the closest, then Bristol, then Birmingham.
Birmingham Airport has a train to Chepstow then a bus to Monmouth – takes 2 hr 35 mins. See https://www.rome2rio.com/map/

The Pavilion Training Room: With Kitchen, Bathroom and Shower
This is the ‘working space’ where the workshop will be held. People are welcome to cook in this kitchen in the evenings. There is a large fridge for everyone to use. Help yourself to tea and coffee here, at any time. This is where you can find your self-service breakfast. There is space outside to relax and enjoy.
Accommodation Options
Log Houses: Ensuite Detached with Cooking Facilities: There are two.
Self-contained for one or two occupants in double and single beds (double with single bunk bed above), seating area, fully fitted kitchen, fridge, and ensuite bathroom. Wood fired stove, electric heaters and French window opening onto its own patio area. If you want to use the woodburning stove please bring matches, firelighters and kindling. Logs can be purchased at the farm, or you can collect dead wood on the surrounding land. The log house has electric heaters and French window opening onto its own patio area. NB The path to these log houses will be muddy when the weather is wet, and can be slippery, so please wear wellington boots, or crocs, and/or bring a nordic walking stick to help you!
Pods: Ensuite Detached, with Cooking Facilities. There are two
Self-contained with double bed, seating area, kitchen, fridge, and ensuite bathroom. Electric heaters. Covered verandah and a firepit. If you want to use the firepit please bring matches, firelighters and kindling. Logs can be purchased at the farm, or you can collect dead wood on the surrounding land.
POD OLYGFA is near the house and has stunning views to the Black Mountains.
POD Y COED is a four minute walk from the house and surrounded by pasture and trees. The path will be slippery if wet, so please bring wellingtons / sturdy shoes.
Barn Cottage: Ensuite Detached with Cooking Facilities. There is one
Self-contained on two floors: bedroom / seating area with log fired burner, fully fitted kitchen, fridge and ensuite bathroom. Central heating. The Barn Room sleeps one in a double or two in two doubles. If you want to use the woodburning stove please bring matches, firelighters and kindling. Logs can be purchased at the farm, or you can collect dead wood on the surrounding land.
Caravans, with Kettle. There are two
Caravans each with two small double beds, basic kitchen and toilet, electric lights and heating. Good value for those wanting a kettle you can use, a fridge, and a loo in your caravan. HOWEVER, There is no hot or cold water in the caravan, but water will be left for you in bottles, for making tea and coffee and washing (we suggest you boil a kettle for water for washing). The caravans are adjacent to one another. They are a 5-6 minute walk from the farmhouse, and 7-8 minutes from the Pavilion. NB The ground will be slippery if it has been raining (clay soil), so please bring wellingtons or outdoor shoes with a good grip to help (and a nordic walking stick might be helpful). NB There are 3 showers, but the nearest shower is about 5-6 minutes away – and although the caravans are comfortable, it is best to think of these caravans as camping.
Farmhouse Bedrooms with Shared Bathrooms. There are 5 Bedrooms
Four very comfortable double bedrooms, upstairs in a traditional 16th century farm house, with access to two shared bathrooms on the same floor, and a third toilet (downstairs). Please note, outdoor shoes are not allowed upstairs in the farmhouse, so bring slippers. The rooms do not have a kettle, so you might like to bring a travel kettle. Alternatively you can walk (outside) to the Pavilion kitchen to make tea or coffee at any time.
The sitting room (lounge) is used as another bedroom and is downstairs and spacious – with 2 beds it in. There is one toilet downstairs and the other 2 bathrooms are upstairs, (NB no outdoor shoes upstairs please). You may with to bring a dressing gown for when you shower. This room does not have a kettle, so you might like to bring a travel kettle. Alternatively, you can walk (outside – 3 mins walk) to the Pavilion kitchen to make tea or coffee at any time.
There is one Shepherd’s Hut with a small double bed, electric lights, kettle and a hob for cooking, wood burning stove (bring your own matches, firelighters and kindling. Firewood can be purchased or picked up from surrounding land). There is an outside seating area. NB there is no running water, and the toilet and shower are a short walk away outside (2 minutes to the main farmhouse which has 3 toilets and 2 shared bathrooms).
The Bell Tents: There are two
Large, 4 metre tall canvas tents, sleep one or two in small doubles, bedside table. Access to fully fitted kitchen and bathroom in Pavilion as well as two additional showers (approx 5 minute walk). The clay soil holds water, so please bring wellingtons / sturdy outdoor shoes (depending on the time of year).
